šŸ”„ Everyone’s Wearing Sequins — Here’s How Designers Really Sew Them

Free inside: Sequin Fabric ebook from Design Secrets — your guide to turning sparkle into structure.

Hi there!

If you’ve ever dreamed of sewing something dazzling—maybe a sequin blouse worthy of an Art Deco soirĆ©e—you’ve probably also realized:

Sequins don’t play fair.

That’s why we got our hands dirty (and sparkly) testing sequin fabrics so you don’t have to—and our findings are now part of the Design Secrets program.

But this isn’t just about sequins.

It’s about getting real results with every pattern you sew. Because if you’ve ever downloaded a freebie or picked up a pattern that ended in a crumpled mess on the floor, you know: good fit and fabric knowledge change everything.

šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡ Download your complimentary Design Secrets Sequin Fabric ebook below. Just one of 169 lessons on the Design Secrets platform.

🧵 What We Learned About Sequins

We studied 3 kinds of sequin fabric so you don’t waste time (or money):

1. Dense Sequins on Mesh – Beautiful, brutal. Needs single-layer cutting, sequin removal in seams, and no pins allowed. Chalk may beat the Frixion pen here.

2. Patterned or Light Sequins – Beginner-friendly! You can pin around the sparkle. Softer mesh or woven bases behave better in construction.

3. Stretch (Sorta) Sequin Mesh – Not true stretch! Just enough give to confuse you. Great drape, but don’t treat it like knit.

✨ Pro Tip: Bring both a Frixion pen and tailor’s chalk to your table—test which one sticks. And never forget: cut from the back, use pattern weights, and dedicate old scissors to seam snipping. Trust us.
