Meet Rima
Lead Designer, Fashion Designer, 3D Software Pattern Designer, Instructor
Rima Bajracharya is a dedicated and passionate fashion designer, specializing in patternmaking and grading with a rich tapestry of experience that spans across the globe.
Her journey in the fashion industry began during the final year of her Diploma course in Melbourne in 2014, where she first honed her skills working for a boutique. This early exposure set the stage for an incredible career. Soon after, she joined Orocéo Castro Brand, as a patternmaker and seamstress. During her tenure, she created custom dresses for local Australian celebrities with some designs even catching the eye of international celebrities.
Additionally, her internship at Judtih Penak Couture, a prestigious bridal atelier, deepened her understanding of sewing and costume creation, skills that continue to influence her work today.
Her expertise extends beyond luxury fashion. As an assistant fashion designer and garment technician at Laura Ashley, a mass-market company, she gained significant experience in large-scale production. This diversity in her skill set her versatility and adaptability in the fashion industry.
A move to Paris marked the next chapter of her career. There, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Technology, learning from mentors who had worked in prestigious ateliers. This experience solidified her passion for the technical aspects of fashion design, particularly in creating final pieces.
Rima also had her own sewing studio, creating samples for various brands and collaborating with designers to bring their visions to life. She has worked with brands that do NYFW, London Fashion Week, and Melbourne Fashion Week. Additionally, she was also working behind the scenes for Rick Owens, Raf Simmons, and other fashion shows during the Paris Fashion Week.
She is based in Lisbon, Portugal, and works as a freelance patternmaker and 3D Fashion designer. She enjoys helping small and upcoming brands/ designers bring their designs to life for fashion shows and production and continues to learn and grow with every project. She is grateful for her diverse experiences and opportunities in the fashion industry and looks forward to continuing her skills and passion to new and exciting projects.
Rima has been a lead designer with Sewing Pattern Secrets since 2021. She saved the day with her amazing knowledge in fashion and patternmaking.
Rima has a keen eye for detail in the pattern making and grading. This accurate attention to detail combined with her Illustrator and Clo3D skills make her written and illustrated instructions the best in the industry. She rarely misses a detail!
And as if that wasn’t enough, Rima interprets all of that knowledge into steps and terminology the home sewist can appreciate and follow easily, making their sewing experience a real joy.
