Hi there,
You have your patterns, but now what?
If you’ve never printed a PDF sewing pattern before, don’t worry—it’s easier than it sounds.
And once you’ve done it once, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it sooner!
Here’s a quick and easy guide to walk you through it:
🖥️ Step 1: Download the Pattern File
Use a laptop or desktop to download your pattern first. Don’t print from the browser—this gives you the most control over how it prints.
📂 Step 2: Open the File with a PDF Reader
We recommend using Adobe Acrobat Reader—it’s free and super reliable.
Open your file using the reader, and you’re ready to go.
🖨️ Step 3: Check Your Printer Settings
Choose the correct paper size (A4 or US Letter, depending on your location).
For patterns: Make sure scaling is turned off or set to “Actual Size” and obviously, print only on one side of the paper.
For instructions: You can fit to page and print on both sides of the paper if you wish.
✂️ Step 4: Print, Tape, and Assemble
Start by printing the test square (usually on Page 1 of the pattern) to check scale
Once it measures correctly, print the rest
See the page layout on the instructions, provided with every pattern.
Following the diagram, lay the pages edge to edge—no trimming needed
Tape one row at a time across, then stack and tape the rows together vertically
Take your time: Don’t overlap, don’t trim, don’t leave a big gap in between.
And voilà—your full-size pattern is ready to cut!
🧷 Tools We Love (That Make It Even Easier!)
If you’re planning to print patterns often, here are a few handy supplies that make the process smooth and frustration-free:
🖨️ Printer: HP Smart-Tank Wireless 5101 All-in-One Printer – reliable, refillable, and great for high-volume printing
🖋️ Ink: Pristar Compatible HP Smart-Tank Refill Bottles – lasts for months!
📄 Paper: Hammermill Premium Inkjet 500-Sheet Copy Paper – crisp, clean, and won’t jam
🧻 Tape: Scotch Tape – 6 Pack – strong, clear, and pattern-ready
💡 Final Tip:
One of the best things about PDF patterns?
You can print them as many times as you need—for size changes, different fabrics, or a whole new look.
You’re never locked in—and we love that kind of freedom.
You’ve got this.
Print, tape, sew… and enjoy every stitch. 😊
Warmly,
